Atrium II | Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
As children move into Atrium II, their social awareness is expanding - and they are captivated by the image of the True Vine: “I am the vine, you are the branches.” This powerful metaphor helps them understand their deepening connections to God, family, friends, and the wider community.
What Children Explore
- The flow of the Eucharistic liturgy. moving from individual moments toward the unified shape of the whole celebration.
- Moral parables. guidance for daily living drawn from Jesus' teaching.
- God's unconditional love and mercy, through the stories of the Found Sheep, the Found Coin, and the Forgiving Father (aka – The Prodigal Son, but focused on God’s mercy instead of our failings).
- Salvation history. With a growing grasp of time, children begin to explore salvation history - past, present, and future and our role as members of the Body of Christ in bringing God’s dream into reality.
