Financial Partners
Christ Church is happy to be a financial partner supporting several local and national ministries.
Buckets of Rain
Since 2012 Buckets of Rain has supported the rebuilding of Detroit by transforming blighted areas into agricultural oases: Growing hope, feeding lives, one garden at a time. Together, Buckets of Rain volunteers have cleaned up trash, mowed overgrown fields, established water connections, and partnered with like-minded individuals and businesses. The result has been over 30 cleaned-up abandoned lots, dozens of new inner-city gardens and two acres of vegetables providing nearly a million servings of fresh vegetables for the homeless and hungry in Detroit/Highland Park through 2020.
Ruth Ellis Center
Named in honor of a resilient Detroit icon, Ruth Ellis Center works to create a supportive environment and community with LGBTQ+ young people. Ruth Ellis Center provides a breadth of services and programs ranging from outreach and safety-net services to skill-building workshops and HIV prevention programs.
Mariners Inn
Founded in 1925 by the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan, Mariners Inn is a leading treatment center providing shelter, substance abuse treatment, and transitional housing for Detroit’s homeless men.
Church of the Messiah
Committed to serving “the least of these”, Church of the Messiah is an Episcopal church located in the Islandview neighborhood of Detroit, whose congregation is made up of 60% African American males under 30! Beyond the Messiah’s vibrant Sunday worship community, volunteers and community leaders maintain over 200 units of low-income housing, lead the F.I.R.E. Marching Band and Cheer Leading Team, run the Messiah Empowerment Bike Shop, and guide the Aim High Mentorship Program...and the list of impactful programs goes on!
Wellspring
Wellspring is a faith-based youth development organization that has been serving the Brightmoor/Old Redford neighborhood of Northwest Detroit for over 30 years. Our mission is to assist urban youth in developing themselves spiritually, socially, academically and economically.
Front Porch
It all started as a part of a block club in 1995 with one volunteer, five kids, some books and origami. Now there is a group of over 50 kids, ranging in age from five to seventeen. The Front Porch provides educational and recreational activities to children and youth in Detroit through afterschool programing, summer activities, academic advocacy, and informal activities “on (and off!) the porch.”
Episcopal Seminaries
Residential Episcopal Seminaries shape and nourish the next generation of priests to lead our communities and congregations. Over the course of three years, these valuable institutions shape our emerging clergy through rigorous academic training, rhythms of daily prayer, communal living, and practical congregational formation. Rector’s Discretionary Fund
The Rector’s Discretionary Fund (and corresponding clergy discretionary funds) provide for urgent and emergency needs for distressed individuals and the support of area agencies providing vital ministries for the support of all God’s people and the expansion of God’s kingdom. In addition to funds directly provided by the Outreach budget of the church, all honoraria received by Christ Church for church related ministries (such as from weddings, funerals, or non-vacation pulpit supply) are directed to the Rector’s Discretionary Fund. Similarly, parishioners and former recipients of support from the Rector’s Discretionary often make contributions to support this ongoing care. Enquire here
