A Prayer for Monday Morning

Opening Sentence
Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57
Canticle – Jubilate
Be joyful in the Lord, all you lands; *
serve the Lord with gladness
and come before his presence with a song. Know this: The Lord himself is God; *
he himself has made us, and we are his;
we are his people and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving;
go into his courts with praise; *
give thanks to him and call upon his Name. For the Lord is good;
his mercy is everlasting; *
and his faithfulness endures from age to age.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
Psalm 1
Happy are they who have not walked in the counsel of the wicked, *
nor lingered in the way of sinners,
nor sat in the seats of the scornful!
Their delight is in the law of the Lord, *
and they meditate on his law day and night.
They are like trees planted by streams of water, bearing fruit in due season, with leaves that do not wither; *
everything they do shall prosper.
It is not so with the wicked; *
they are like chaff which the wind blows away.
Therefore the wicked shall not stand upright when judgment comes, *
nor the sinner in the council of the righteous.
For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, *
but the way of the wicked is doomed.
Lesson
The night is far gone, the day is near. Let us then lay aside the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. Romans 13:12

Collect
O God, the King eternal, whose light divides the day from the night and turns the shadow of death into the morning: Drive far from us all wrong desires, incline our hearts to keep your law, and guide our feet into the way of peace; that, having done your will with cheerfulness during the day, we may, when night comes, rejoice to give you thanks; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Grace
May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

A Prayer for Monday at the Mid-Day

Opening Sentence
O God, make speed to save us. O Lord, make haste to help us.
Hymn
The golden sun lights up the sky,
Imparting vigor to the day.
Amid our customary round,
We offer you our prayer and praise.
Psalm 121
I lift up my eyes to the hills; *
from where is my help to come? My help comes from the Lord, *
the maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved *
and he who watches over you will not fall asleep. Behold, he who keeps watch over Israel *
shall neither slumber nor sleep; The Lord himself watches over you; *
the Lord is your shade at your right hand, So that the sun shall not strike you by day, *
nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; *
it is he who shall keep you safe.
The Lord shall watch over your going out and your coming in, *
from this time forth for evermore.
Lesson
So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:17-18.
The Lord’s Prayer
Thanksgiving
We thank you for the blessing of family and friends, and for the loving care which surrounds us on every side.
Grace
Let us bless the Lord. Thanks be to God.

A Prayer for Monday Evening

Opening Sentence
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:2
Canticle — The Song of Mary
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior; *
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: *
the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name. He has mercy on those who fear him *
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm, *
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, *
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things, *
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel, *
for he has remembered his promise of mercy, The promise he made to our fathers, *
to Abraham and his children for ever.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
Psalm 26
Give judgment for me, O Lord, for I have lived with integrity; *
I have trusted in the Lord and have not faltered.
Test me, O Lord, and try me; *
examine my heart and my mind.
For your love is before my eyes; *
I have walked faithfully with you.
I have not sat with the worthless, *
nor do I consort with the deceitful.
I have hated the company of evildoers; *
I will not sit down with the wicked.
I will wash my hands in innocence, O Lord, *
that I may go in procession round your altar,
Singing aloud a song of thanksgiving *
and recounting all your wonderful deeds.
Lord, I love the house in which you dwell *
and the place where your glory abides.
Do not sweep me away with sinners, *
nor my life with those who thirst for blood,
Whose hands are full of evil plots, *
and their right hand full of bribes.
As for me, I will live with integrity; *
redeem me, O Lord, and have pity on me.
My foot stands on level ground; *
in the full assembly I will bless the Lord.
Lesson
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words. And God, who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:26-28

Collect
Most holy God, the source of all good desires, all right judgments, and all just works: Give to us, your servants, that peace which the world cannot give, so that our minds may be fixed on the doing of your will, and that we, being delivered from the fear of all enemies, may live in peace and quietness; through the mercies of Christ Jesus our Savior. Amen.
Grace
May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
