VBS Day Camp Monday, August 3 - Friday, August 7 - 9:00 am-3:00pm. 5-12 Year Olds. Arts and crafts, nature activities, games, and Bible study. Bring a daily sack lunch. "Rebuild the Churches" Church of the Messiah, Detroit, 231 E. Grand Blvd. hosts a benefit concert Sunday, August 9, 4:00pm. $20/Person at the door (suggested). Rebuilding churches through song is a coordinated fundraising effort of regional Episcopal Churches, Ecumenical and Interfaith Friends to rebuild the seven African-American churches that have been burned this summer. All are welcome! A reception of light refreshments and fellowship follows.
Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build Saturday, August 15 & Monday, August 17 through Saturday, August 22. Only 10 minutes from here. Participate for one day or all seven, and no skills or tools are required. Must be at least 16 years old. "Heart of Crossroads" Awards Gala Wednesday, September 9 at 6:30pm, Waterview Loft (at Port Detroit on Bates St., 1 block East of Hart Plaza) $150/Person. All are invited to this memorable evening. Enjoy spectacular views of the Ambassador Bridge and the waterfront. Ticket includes a cocktail hour, silent auction, dinner, valet parking and a brief awards program to honor those who prepare and serve a meal to the 650 or more people who depend on Crossroads every Sunday. Lost and Found Please check the Undercroft Lost and Found for any missing coats, gloves, umbrellas, scarves, backpacks, etc., that may belong to you. There are quite a few pieces waiting to go back home! Whatever is left over will be donated to Crossroads at the end of August.

Thursday, August 6, 6:30-8:30pm and Friday, August 7, 9:00am-3:00pm. Miller Hall and Edsel & Eleanor Ford House. Suggested contribution: $60 (Payment based on ability to pay using a sliding scale between $60-$45). Facilitated by the Rev. Bonnie Edwards, Episcopal priest and award-winning photographer. We will explore inspiring qualities of natural creation by photographing the of the Ford Estate. Back indoors, we will edit and share our images. Bring your camera! - Magnificat in Selma - Remembering Jonathan Daniels in Eucharist, Video and Sacred Conversation Thursday, August 20; Eucharist: 5:30pm, Meal: 6:00pm, Video, Followed by Sacred Conversation: 6:45-8:30pm. Undercroft. Freewill Offering. August 20th marks the 50th anniversary of the violent death of Jonathan Daniels in rural Alabama. After marching on Selma, Jon later returned that summer to register voters, where he then met his death at the hands of a sheriff's deputy. Jon is remembered in the Episcopal Church Calendar of Saints. A schoolmate of his, the Rev. Judy Upham, will be present.

Crossroads Welcomes Your Donations - Clothing, Toys, and Household Items. Crossroads East at Salem Lutheran Church 21230 Moross (between Mack and I-94). Monday - Friday Drop-off hours: 9:00am-12 noon and 1:00pm-4:00pm. Please go to the parking lot behind the church. Look for the Crossroads sign on the door in the middle of the long wing and just ring the bell. Tax receipt letters are available.
Opportunities to Serve A welcoming opportunity! Serve as a warm and friendly presence as a Front Office Receptionist. We already have some wonderful and dedicated volunteers but there are days in the week that need to be filled. Or, do you like to cook? garden? Become a Greeter? We can find a perfect match for you. Memorials A great way to give thanks for our loved ones is to make an altar flower contribution in their name. The suggested contribution is $60. Contact Maryann DeAngelo to schedule a memorial.
Reserving Space for an Event In an effort to ensure that events are planned well in advance, and to eliminate scheduling conflicts, requests for room reservations must be received at least 21 days in advance of the event. Submitted forms are reviewed at the weekly staff meeting. You will be notified within 24 hours after a decision has been made. You can complete a "green" sheet HERE.
Pastoral Care Visits If you know of individuals that are housebound or in need of pastoral visits, please contact MaryAnn DeAngelo in the church office at 313.885.4841 ext. 107.
Alzheimer's Support Group All who are coping with the challenges of Alzheimer's disease and dementia are welcome to attend this group at any time to find comfort and practical help. The group meets every third Thursday in the Undercroft.
