Baptisms
The vows taken with the Baptismal Covenant commit us to live our faith in the world. And the festive celebration of Holy Baptism is one of the most joyful occasions for the entire Church. It is offered to church members of all ages. Holy Baptism is normally administered within the Eucharist as the chief service on Sunday. As the Book of Common Prayer suggests, we usually celebrate baptism at the Easter Vigil, on the Day of Pentecost, on the Feast of the Transfiguration (the first Sunday in August), on All Saints’ Day (or the Sunday after All Saints’ Day), on the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord (the first Sunday after the Epiphany), on Sundays when the Bishop is present. We offer adult baptismal candidates' classes in preparation for this momentous commitment. Parents who wish to baptize children should be active members of this, or some other congregation, in order that they can carry out their promise.
For more information or to discuss baptism for you or a family member, please contact Joseph Daniel in the Rector’s Office at rectorsoffice@christchurchgp.org or call 313-885-4841, ext. 107.

Weddings
The sacred vows of marriage are very exquisite at Christ Church. Wedding coordinators, along with close cooperation with clergy and support staff, work as a team to assist bridal couples and their families to ensure the perfect day. There is also a helpful presence on location at any given time during the wedding rehearsal and the day of the ceremony. For more information or to discuss a potential wedding here at Christ Church, please contact Joseph Daniel in the Rector’s Office at rectorsoffice@christchurchgp.org or call 313-885-4842.

Funerals
Clergy and support staff are here to assist families in their time of need with the hope that even in the midst of sorrow and loss a family may find peace and joy. Funerals at Christ Church follow the custom and practice of our community within the Episcopal Tradition and may be followed by a lite reception hosted by the Church. All funerals at Christ Church are livestreamed for family and friends who are unable to be with us.
In the event of a death, please contact the Priest on call at 313-885-4841, ext. 4 as soon as possible in order that a priest may join you in your grief.
Macabre as it may sound, planning ahead for one’s death and funeral can bring great peace and comfort to the dying. To speak with a priest, please contact Joseph Daniel in the Rector’s Office at rectorsoffice@christchurchgp.org or call 313-885-4841, ext. 107.
When requested, Funeral Reception teams plan and staff receptions and serve those who attend funeral services. The Christ Church Columbarium

Burial at Christ Church
Christ Church offers a beautiful garden columbarium for the interment of an urn of ashes. Christ Church also offers a Scattering Garden in which a loved one’s ashes are buried directly in the earth. Unlike remote cemeteries, the Christ Church Columbarium and Rose Garden provides a unique setting in the midst of our community for the burial and remembrance of a loved one. In addition to providing a quiet place for family to gather beside the resting place of a family member or friend, the Christ Church Columbarium and Rose Garden is a place of celebration and joy enjoyed by playful children and the Christ Church community throughout the year.
Columbarium niches are available for purchase by current members of Christ Church. Pricing for niches is as follows:
Double Niches – $3,000
Single Niches – $1,500
Prices include Bronze Memorial Plaques and mason fees to open and close the niche for burial. Niche sizes are limited; therefore, urns and containers may be no larger than: 8.5” in height, 4.5” deep, and 6.5” wide.
A place in the Scattering Garden may be purchased for $500 and includes a Bronze Memorial Plaque (to be displayed on the Scattering Garden Memorial Plaque) and fees for burial. As the ashes are buried directly in the earth, no urn or container is necessary.
