Director of Children and Family Ministries

The Rector of Christ Church, Grosse Pointe, Michigan, seeks to appoint a creative and strategic thinking individual to join the Church’s staff as the Director of Children and Family Ministries. The new Director will join a program staff of 6, and a total staff of 15, who, together, work to support the broad ministry of Christ Church.

The Director of Children and Family Ministries will work closely with families and volunteers to build relationships and develop formation programs and events to help children live into the vows made for them at their Baptism. The Director will provide strategic leadership and creative vision, implementing fresh and relevant approaches that maintain. above all, a community of affection and care grounded in God’s love that 1) deepens our faith through family-oriented connections, 2) forms and educates our children and their families and 3) invites mutual participation with affiliated and neighborhood groups.

Qualifications:

  •     Strategic Visioning
  •     Supervisory Experience to oversee both paid and volunteer staff
  •     Connecting and communicating skills
  •     Well-grounded in Christian faith and life
  •     Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in field
  •     Teaching and facilitation skills to lead kindergarten to 5th grade programs
  •     Oversees the Nursery Program, Parent's Day out Program and other children Ministries of the Church

Church Nursery Child Care
Compensation $11.22 Hourly

The Nursery Child Care worker performs a wide range of tasks that help provide a safe, secure, nurturing, clean and efficient environment and care for our children. The Nursery Caregiver will help prepare and reset the room, play with children or direct their play, read to them, provide basic infant and toddler care, and exhibit patience and love to parents and children alike. Hours are varied but are evening and weekend needs. Typical shift is 2, 3 or 4 hours.

  • Ensure the safety and care of all children
  • Engage children through experiences and activities including but not limited to songs, games, crafts and storytelling
  • Implement positive discipline and build the children’s esteem through positive guidance by communicating in an effective, age-appropriate manner
  • Provide your constructive feedback to the CYF Director that will improve the quality of our program
  • Communicate regularly with parents at pickup and drop-off regarding their child(ren) and how they might be of support
  • Prepare the classroom each morning and reset after children depart

Experience

  • Prior experience in a childcare facility or organization is preferred

  • Child friendly
  • Strong work ethic
  • Punctual, dependable and trustworthy
  • Able to carry up to 50 pounds for short distances
  • Some mobility required for monitoring children, staff, and children
